America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band is known for its devoted musicianship and polished performances. Don’t miss this national treasure in what promises to be an inspiring performance at Symphony Center.

Tickets are free, limited four per household. All tickets have been distributed for this concert.

All tickets are null and void 15 minutes prior to the performance. At that time, seats will be available to those without tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. For security purposes, items larger than a purse will not be permitted.

When it performs later this month at Orchestra Hall, "The President's Own" U.S. Marine Band will have a strong Chicago flavor. The ensemble, in the midst of its annual United States tour, with a stop Oct. 24 at Symphony Center, will perform a piece written as a tribute to Adolph “Bud” Herseth, the late, legendary principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. “The Storyteller,” written by Chicago native James Stephenson, is “something to connect the band to the orchestra and the city of Chicago,” said Col. Jason Fettig, the band's director. Read more at CSO Sounds & Stories

Being a member of “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band prepared John Hagstrom well for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra — his artistic home for the last 22 years. “The people I worked with and mentors I had while in the band were tremendous, and really influenced me to focus my efforts in efficient ways,” he said. "The most fundamental commonality between the Marine Band and the CSO is that they’re governed by an ideal.” Read more at CSO Sounds & Stories
