After two triumphant concerts at Carnegie Hall, Riccardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra headed to Naples, Fla., for the next stop on their East Coast Tour 2018. In their first appearance together at Hayes Hall in the Artis—Naples cultural campus, Maestro Muti and the orchestra performed the overture to Verdi’s I vespri siciliani, Jennifer Higdon’s Low Brass Concerto (featuring soloists Jay Friedman, Michael Mulcahy, Charles Vernon and Gene Pokorny) and Brahms’ Symphony No. 2.

The concert Feb. 12 at Hayes Hall is prelude to a three-year residency beginning in 2019 that was recently announced by Artis—Naples and the CSO. The residencies will consist of at least six full performances, as well as community visits and workshops, over the three-year-period through 2021.
