Riccardo Muti and Chicago Symphony Orchestra opened the 127th season with a concert that featured Anne-Sophie Mutter in one of Tchaikovsky’s most beloved works, the Violin Concerto. The program began with the Orchestra’s first performances of Penderecki’s The Awakening of Jacob, and Schumann’s Second Symphony brought the concert to a close. Rounding out this broadcast is Ravel’s experiment in orchestration, dynamics, and pacing—Boléro.
