Riccardo Muti, music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, will be interviewed by arts journalist Dennis Polkow on WDCB-FM’s weekly hourlong program “The Arts Section,” beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11.

During the interview, Muti will discuss his recent contract extension, as well as the CSO’s just announced 2018-19 season. Joining Muti will be award-winning veteran journalist, critic and NewCity Chicago columnist Dennis Polkow, who has covered the CSO for more than 30 years. The segment is being produced by Steve Robinson, president of New Media Productions; he’s the former longtime general manager of WFMT-FM and the WFMT Radio Network.

“The Arts Section,” hosted by WDCB’s Gary Zidek, is now in its fifth year as staple of WDCB’s Sunday-morning lineup. The weekly program covers arts and culture, including theater, film, dance, literature, visual and culinary arts, plus a broad range of musical genres extending beyond WDCB’s core jazz format.

The CSO’s music director position has been endowed in perpetuity by a gift from the Zell Family Foundation.
