This week, James Gaffigan leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in a program featuring lesser known works in the classical repertoire. CSO trombonist Michael Mulcahy is the soloist in the world premiere performance of Carl Vine’s Five Hallucinations for Trombone and Orchestra, a piece co-commissioned by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The program concludes with two works from the popular Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass Live album.
