Before the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s matinee Feb. 15 with Riccardo Muti at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Fla., CSO musicians headed out to the community to give master classes as well as a performance of “Stone Soup,” a Once Upon a Symphony production designed for young listeners.
Then it was back to the Kravis Center’s Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr. Hall for a program of the overture to Verdi’s I vespri siciliani, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto (featuring Stephen Williamson, principal clarinet), Chausson’s Poème de l’amour et de la mer (with mezzo soprano Clémentine Margaine) and Four Sea Interludes from Britten’s opera Peter Grimes.
The CSO’s East Coast Tour 2018 concludes with two concerts Feb. 16-17 in Memorial Hall at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
