For its second sold-out concert at Hamburg’s brand-new Elbphilharmonie, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra played selections by Catalani, Strauss and Tchaikovsky, as part of the hall’s opening-week festivities. The CSO had the honor of being the first foreign-based orchestra to perform in the state-of-the-art venue. Before the concert, CSO musicians and patrons were special guests at a brunch and reception at Hamburg’s historic city hall, the Rathaus. After the performance, concertgoers queued up for a CD signing by Maestro Muti.
