This week’s broadcast is a repeat from August 2016: Semyon Bychkov leads this program, which looks at the work of Brahms from multiple angles. It begins with Detlev Glanert’s Brahms-Fantasie, a piece from 2012 that incorporates quotations and sonorities of the composer’s works. Renaud Capuçon is soloist in the Violin Concerto, followed by the First Symphony. The program concludes with Leonard Slatkin leading Barber’s Overture to The School for Scandal.
