Hector Arellano
Hector Arellano (pictured upper right) is the Director of Pointing, Cleaning and Caulking with the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Administrative District Council 1 of Illinois. During his nearly 30 years in the union, Hector has served as a foreman and assistant superintendent and was a part- and full-time apprenticeship & training instructor for 18 years before becoming a Business Representative for the union in 2014. Hector is a supporter of Landmarks Illinois, as well, sponsoring and attending our Legendary Landmarks Celebration in March.

Retired Lt. Col. Jennifer N. Pritzker is president and CEO of TAWANI Enterprises, Inc., founder and chair of the Pritzker Military Museum & Library, president and founder of the TAWANI Foundation and president and founder of the Pritzker Military Foundation. Her civic engagement and philanthropic support in which she is involved encompass a wide range of important issues including military history, research in human sexuality and gender identity, cultural and educational institutions, historic preservation and human rights advocacy.

Janet & Philip Rotner
Janet Rotner served on the Landmarks Illinois Board of Directors for six years before sun-setting this June 2017. Janet said she has “the highest respect for the Landmarks Illinois staff and ‘family,’” and will remain active by joining the Emeritus Board and continuing committee work. Janet and her husband Philip Rotner also recently made a generous planned gift in support of Landmarks Illinois’ mission and programs.

Richard & Mary Gray
Richard Gray, a 2007 LI Legendary Landmark, is an internationally distinguished art dealer and collector. Mary Gray is the author of two books on Chicago’s public art: A Guide to Chicago’s Public Sculpture (1983) and A Guide to Chicago’s Murals (2001). The Grays are also passionate preservationists and have been instrumental in the preservation of important cultural assets such as Chicago Public School murals and Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House. Longtime Landmarks Illinois supporters, the Grays recently made a significant contribution to our Chicagoland Advocacy Program.

Anne Voshel
Landmarks Illinois Board Member Anne Voshel is a Chicago-based business leader and philanthropist with a BA in Civil Engineering from University of Michigan and an MBA from University of Chicago. She owns AVA Consultants, which provides owner’s representative services for commercial real estate. Several nonprofits benefit from Anne’s leadership and generosity, including Landmarks Illinois, where she has been a board member since 1990, not counting three mandatory sunset years. Anne has served as a committee, event and vice chair.
Why does Anne donate to Landmarks Illinois?
“Our state is filled with wonderful history,” said Anne. “If there isn’t a voice that speaks up, we run the risk of losing irreplaceable assets. We were able to get Chicago on good, financial footing. Now it’s time to radiate out to the rest of the state.”

Shelley Gorson
Former Board Member Shelley Gorson leads our Emeritus Board, as she hit her “sunset year” from the Board of Directors in June –that is, a mandatory year off from board service between six-year terms. In her 13 years as a volunteer, Shelley has served as a board member, event, committee and board chair as well as an organizational visionary.
Why does Shelley continue to support Landmarks Illinois?
“When I joined LI in 2003, the organization’s focus was to save – and help others save and re-utilize –historic buildings. This will always be our core work because we believe that our quality of life is enhanced by beautiful buildings. But the preservation movement has progressed to become one which broadens our impact at the neighborhood and community level to advance the social and economic good.”
