Mark G. Henning, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Board Development Committee Chair
Mark is a retired partner in the global law firm of Winston & Strawn LLP, where he represented public and private real estate investment trusts, national banks, private developers and investors, public companies, and pension funds in complex commercial real estate transactions for 35 years. He served as a member of the Western Springs Plan Commission from 2001 to 2005.
Gary W. Anderson, Vice Chairman and Chairman of Board Development Committee
Gary is owner and principal of Gary W. Anderson Architects. He has more than 40 years of experience in restoration and design and development. Gary received the Gold Medal Award from the American Institute of Architects, Illinois for outstanding lifetime service as an AIA member. He serves as the president of the River District Council and is the past President of the Erlander Museum, the Haight Village Restoration Society, and Northern Illinois American Institute of Architects.
Bonnie McDonald, President & CEO
Bonnie joined Landmarks Illinois (LI) as its executive leader in 2012. She has imparted her vision to focus on people as the purpose for historic preservation, which led to the branding of LI’s work as “People saving places. For people.” Bonnie’s collaborative leadership, engaging the board, staff, volunteers and members, has resulted in LI’s exponential growth and increased impact. Since 2012, LI has opened its first regional office, nearly doubled its staff, initiated a preservation revolving fund and new grant programs, passed needed policies and state legislation, all while engaging in on-the-ground advocacy helping people save places that matter to them. She serves on the boards of the National Preservation Partners Network, Glessner House Museum, Hegeler Carus Foundation and the Charnley-Perksy House and is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago’s Questions Committee, Lambda Alpha International – Ely Chapter, and the Arts Club of Chicago.
Lee Brown, Secretary and Chair of Reinvestment Committee
Lee has been in professional planning practice for more than 35 years. He is president of Teska Associates, Inc., a consulting firm that specializes in urban planning and landscape architecture. Lee was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), the highest honor bestowed an American planner. He serves as president of AICP and is a member of the executive committee of the American Planning Association Board of Directors.
Frieda Ireland, Treasurer and Resource Development Committee Chair
Frieda is a retired vice president of internal audit for Telephone & Data Systems, a Fortune 500 telecommunications company that provides telecommunications services to over 6 million customers in 36 states. Frieda was responsible for the internal audit function across the company and worked closely with the Telephone & Data Systems and U.S. Cellular audit committees in the performance of their corporate oversight responsibilities.
Tim Frens, Finance Committee Chair
Tim is a leader in Plante Moran’s housing and community development solutions group, assisting clients in the monetization of federal and state historic and New Markets Tax Credits. This group has helped clients across the country to secure more than $1 billion in tax credits. Tim is known for providing exceptional audit, tax, and consulting services to privately-held real estate development and investment companies.
Jeffrey Goulette, Preservation Fund and Easement Committee Chair
Jeffrey is the design principal and cofounder of architecture firm Sullivan, Goulette & Wilson. He oversees all aspects of the firm’s design practice. His work has been featured on HGTV, in local and national publications, and has been honored with multiple design awards. Jeffrey is secretary of the board of the Chicago chapter of the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago and sits on its government affairs committee.
Joshua Freedland, Preservation Issues Committee Chair
Joshua is an associate principal with Wiss Janney Elstner who has extensive experience in materials conservation of historic buildings. His work has included materials analysis, building documentation, façade investigations, preservation recommendations, and construction observations. Joshua has provided preservation recommendations for hundreds of buildings, monuments, and sculptures, including many listed on the National Register of Historic Places and local registers.
Kathleen A. Swien, General Counsel
Kathleen is a member of Pederson and Houpt’s Real Estate Practice Group where she focuses her practice on a broad range of commercial real estate matters, including representing real estate investment managers in connection with portfolio acquisitions and sales transactions for hotel, retail and general corporate properties. With an international background in commercial and corporate real estate, Kathleen counsels real estate owners, developers, financial institutions and investors in complex deals involving commercial property assets. She holds a B.A. from University of Michigan and J.D. from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
Andrew (Andy) Ahitow, Member-At-Large
Andy is both a real estate broker and an entrepreneur. In November 2002, Andy partnered with Justin Elliott to launch Chicago Apartment Finders, a free apartment finding service that now employs 150 brokers in four offices across the city. He went on recently to launch CityPads. Andy works to bring together clients and landlords in historic buildings across Chicago.
Joseph M. Antunovich, Member-at-Large
Joe is founder and president of Antunovich Associates, a 90-person architecture, planning, and interior design firm with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C. Joe directed the restoration of the historic Nickerson Mansion and the Murphy Auditorium in Chicago for the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation and recently completed the new hotel The Robey & The Hollander in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. In 2014, Joe was named a Legendary Landmark by Landmarks Illinois.
Jean Follett, Member-At-Large
Jean Follett is an editor and historic preservation consultant based in Wheaton. She formerly was an elected Village Trustee for Hinsdale and chair of its Historic Preservation Commission. She has a B.A. degree in the history of architecture and planning from Brown University and a PhD in American and New England studies from Boston University. Jean served on the board from 2010-2016 during which she served as the chair of the Preservation Issues Committee, the recent Strategic Planning Working Group, and as a member of the Executive Committee. She was re-elected to her second term on the board in 2017.
Tiffany Hamel Johnson, Member-At-Large
Tiffany is Assistant to the Mayor, Deputy Chief Neighborhood Development Officer at the City of Chicago. She previously served as senior vice president of strategy and community development for the Chicago Urban League. Tiffany is a strategy-based leader who has a track record of positively influencing stakeholders within governmental, private, and non-profit sectors.
Katie Kim, Member-At-Large
Katie is Director, Small Business Specialist at Peoria-based The Kim Group, where she acts as a full service real estate agent. She is native Peorian and has a depth of knowledge about the community, local activities and area organizations. She holds a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Phoenix University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from University of Iowa. In addition to numerous professional affiliations, Katie volunteers with Peoria area nonprofits.
Nick Koricanac, Member-At-Large
Nick is a Vice President at Wintrust within the Chicago Commercial Real Estate Lending Team. His primary responsibility involves establishing long-lasting relationships with Chicago-based investors and developers and identifying creative financing solutions in the Chicago market. Nick holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Financial Management from Indiana University and was also a visiting student of London’s King’s College School of Economics. He is an active board member for Chicago’s City of Hope Future Leaders Committee.
Judi R. Male, Member-At-Large
Judi has been designing high-end residences for clients throughout the United States for more than 40 years. Her interiors have been published in several national and international publications. Judi graduated from the University of Miami with a B.A. in art history. In 1987 she and a few friends founded the Community Alliance Against AIDS, one of the earliest and most successful AIDS fundraising organizations in the US. Judi recently relocated to Chicago.
Martin V. Sinclair, Jr., Member-At-Large
Martin is an attorney with Sperling & Slater, P.C. He has extensive experience representing companies and individuals in complex commercial litigation, including disputes relating to mergers and acquisitions and commercial contracts. His experience includes representing clients in federal, state and arbitral tribunals and in all phases of litigation, at both the trial and appellate levels. He first got involved with Landmarks Illinois representing a coalition of preservation organizations in litigation related to the Commission on Chicago Landmarks’ public hearing process.

Michael Altheimer
Michael, who heads Miro Development, is an alumnus of DePaul University. Michael’s thorough knowledge of the renovation process has led to the development of an efficient construction team that can complete routine maintenance of residential and commercial buildings, as well as extensive multi-unit, code compliant renovations. Michael ensures his projects provide employment opportunities for local residents including underprivileged youth. He also welcomes the opportunity for job site tours and Q&A sessions with students interested in architecture and related fields.
Erika Block
Erika worked as Planner I for the City of Wilmette for over 10 years. Her expertise encompasses urban planning, local government and zoning. She has been an active member of Landmarks Illinois emerging professionals’ group, Skyline Council, which she chaired from 2014-2016. She also chaired Skyline Council’s Fundraising Subcommittee, with responsibility for securing sponsorships for the Skyline Social and other events. Erika holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and business administration from the University of Iowa.
Inga Carus
Inga serves as the chief executive officer of Carus Corporation, an international manufacturer of environmental products and services based in Peru, Illinois. The company was founded by Inga’s grandfather almost a century ago. The Carus family has long been committed to preservation. They have protected the Hegeler-Carus Mansion in LaSalle, Illinois (a national historic landmark on which Landmarks Illinois holds an easement), their corporate headquarters building in Peru, and various other historic buildings in the Illinois Valley area.
Ari Glass
Ari is executive vice president at Zeller Realty Group (ZRG). He is engaged in locating, analyzing, and recommending potential acquisition opportunities for ZRG, including financing, equity sourcing, and transaction structuring. Previously, Ari was a project manager at the Wrigley Building, where his efforts included securing landmark status, structuring equity co-investment in historic rehabilitation tax credits, and planning and executing a $125 million renovation.
Krista Gnatt
Krista is a regional business development manager for Western Construction Group. She has held several positions in the construction industry. Krista has overseen facade restoration of many landmark buildings, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Elks National Veterans Memorial, and the Palmolive Building. Krista has a bachelor’s in industrial engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MBA and master’s degree in project management from DeVry University. In addition to Landmarks Illinois’ board, she serves on the Building Enclosure Council-Chicago, Architectural Preservation Technology Western Great Lakes Chapter, Structural Engineers Association of Illinois, and Society of Marketing Professional Services.
Jacob (Jake) Goldberg
Jake founded Goldberg General Contracting (GGC) in 1987, a high-end, custom construction company that specializes in historic restorations. The firm was honored by the American Institute of Architects and Landmarks Illinois for its restoration of Louis Sullivan’s Krause Music Store. In addition, the firm has restored buildings by John Wellborn Root, Howard Van Doren Shaw, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Most recently, GGC built one of the nation’s first sustainable homes that are both Net Zero-Energy and certified LEED Platinum. Jake previously served as an advisor to the Chicago Building Department during the Richard M. Daley administration.
Tracy S. Larrison
Tracy is a Senior Vice President at PNC Bank and has worked as a commercial real estate lender in Chicago for over 20 years with over $3.5 Billion in originations on projects of all types across the United States. He is an alumni of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Finance with a specialization in real estate.
Robert C. Lee
Bob is a Partner at Jones Day, an international law firm that employs approximately 2500 lawyers in 43 offices. Bob was global co-chair of Jones Day’s Real Estate Practice from 2005 to 2015 and leads the firm’s Real Estate Funds Practice. He represents real estate private equity clients in domestic U.S. and cross-border real estate investments, and in private fund and REIT formations. Bob serves on the board of trustees of the Chicago Historical Society and its Chicago History Museum and on the Board of Directors of After School Matters, a public/private partnership that provides out-of-school programming in the arts, communication, science, sports, and technology for Chicago teens in underserved communities. He holds a Bachelor of City Planning from the University of Virginia’s School of Architecture and a J.D. from the University of Michigan.
Erica Meyer
Erica is an advertising Creative Director whose career focused on database and direct marketing at firms in Chicago, New York and Boston. Since retiring, she served as President of The Guild of the Chicago History Museum as well as its Program Director and on the board of the Museum’s Costume Council. She currently sits on the Art Institute’s American Art Committee and on the board of Know Your Chicago.
Brad Moeller
Brad Moeller serves as Senior Vice President of Construction Management for CA Student Living and oversees the construction and management team. Since Brad’s arrival in 2011, he has overseen over 2.5 billion in development and construction in various positions within the Student Living Development team. Brad joined CA Ventures from Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, where he worked for seven years managing design and construction for numerous residential and mixed-use projects while specializing in renovations. Prior to Hartshorne Plunkard, he worked for Northeast Collaborative Architects in Newport, Rhode Island, where he gained experience in designing a wide range of building types, including several historic renovations. He is a Licensed Architect in the State of Illinois, and a LEED Accredited Professional.
Martin C. Tangora
Marty is a retired associate professor of mathematics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He consults on architectural history and has been active in Chicago preservation issues since 1971. He has a B.S. from the California Institute of Technology and a PhD in mathematics from Northwestern University.
Cherryl Thomas
Cherryl worked for the City of Chicago for 30 years in the Departments of Public Works, Water, Aviation and Buildings, and as Deputy Chief of Staff for Infrastructure in the Mayor’s Office. Cherryl retired as Commissioner of Buildings for the City of Chicago to accept an appointment by President Clinton as Chairman of the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board. Upon completion of her term at the Railroad Retirement Board, Cherryl founded Ardmore Associates.
Blair Todt
Blair, as chief legal officer and corporate secretary, is responsible for managing Health Care Service Corporation’s Legal Division, including supervising activities related to litigation, corporate services — such as governance, corporate transactions and human resources — regulatory affairs and other legal issues affecting the company and its five Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans. Blair received a bachelor’s degree in political communication from The George Washington University and a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School.
Jack Tribbia
Jack Tribbia is the President of the Restoration Division of Berglund Construction. He has an inherent appreciation for the historical importance of a structure and is recognized in the A/E/C industry as an expert in restoration and rehabilitation of the landmark buildings. Under his direct management, the Berglund Restoration Division has earned national recognition, achieving the Construction Excellence Award by the United States General Services Administration and the National Preservation Award by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Jack served on the board of Landmarks Illinois from 2009 – 2015 and was chairman of the Preservation Fund & Easement Committee. He was elected to service once again in 2017.
Christy Webber
Christy is Founder and President of Christy Webber Landscapes, a full-service landscape provider offering design, construction and maintenance programs to residential, commercial and municipal clients throughout Chicago. Her firm maintains the landscape of over 340 single family homes in Chicago, and provides landscaping services on some of the city’s most iconic properties including the Museum Campus, Millennium Park, Water Tower and Soldier Field. Based in Chicago for over 20 years and with more than 425 employees, her company’s full team includes Christy Webber Farm and Garden Center, Kinsella Landscaping, RR Landscape Supply, Greenworks and RR Resourceful Recycling. She attributes her success to a love of the outdoors and entrepreneurial spirit she inherited from her father. Christy believes that beautiful landscaping influences our lives and promotes health and wellbeing.
