Landmarks Illinois held its 47th Annual Meeting Monday, June 25, 2018, at Anthony Overton Elementary School in Chicago.
A significant example of Mid-Century Modern school design in Chicago, the Overton School was designed by architects Perkins & Will. The school opened in 1963 and served Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood for 50 years before closing in 2013. Washington Park Development Group purchased the historically significant school building and is planning with Pappageorge Haymes Partners a conversion to a work incubator space.
