Adopt an Artifact Program
The McHenry County Historical Society has been collecting, preserving and sharing its county’s history with the public for more than 50 years. Did you know that less than 10 percent of the Society’s artifacts are on exhibit at any one time?
The rest of our artifacts still need proper storage and care in order to protect and share them with future generations.
Now you can help MCHS preserve part of its collection by adopting an endangered artifact. Because of artifact’s condition at the time of its donation or simply the ravages of time, these endangered artifacts are too fragile to exhibit.
Your tax-deductible donation to the Adopt an Artifact program will support the restoration and storage of an artifact of your choosing and preserve its historical significance.
Adopting an artifact is a unique way to get involved with the museum’s collection and help provide the support needed to continue to collect and preserve the history of McHenry County. Surprise a friend or loved one by adopting an artifact in his or her honor, or show your pride in McHenry County’s history by adopting one for yourself.
Only through the support of the community can we continue to care for and exhibit artifacts that connect us with the past. Thank you for helping to preserve our history!
