Knox's contribution to the war effort via the S.A.T.C. was supplemented by an agricultural program designed to boost food production, a temporary suspension of athletic programs at Knox, and a great deal of reflection on what it meant to truly "carry on" at school during wartime.
The newspaper article entitled "Knox College Method Attracting Praise" noted, "Knox college gave many of her sons to her country in the days of '61 and '65 and in the Spanish American war. Her war record is a proud one."
