The purpose of this site.
The centennial of the First World War was commemortated from 2016 to 2019 by a number of cultural institutions. This is an archive of the commemorative efforts of the people of Illinois. These sites and pages are downloaded onto this server have been made live so that the efforts of thousands of librarians, historians, archivists, and scholars of all sorts can be preserved and utilized into the future.
How these sites were collected.
We have copied the included sites from their original locations using a simple Linux utility called
wget. We have converted the links as much as possible to work locally on this server.
Why these sites were chosen.
We have tried to find and capture as many Illinois commemorative sites. Let us know if we aren't including
a site.
