Architectural historian Daniel Bluestone (PhD ’84) explores the contentious preservation campaign spurred by the Chicago Theological Seminary’s 1957 plan to demolish Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House and replace it with a married student dormitory.

Gabbing with the Ghosts Tour at McPike Mansion

Learn the history of the McPike Mansion and take a look at the documented photos of the mansion and paranormal activity. Then, take a tour of the surrounding grounds and the crypt. Talking with the spirits with dowsing rods and join us for a dark session in the cellar with our experienced medium. Tour lasts approximately 90 minutes.

All proceeds go toward the restoration of the mansion. There will be something special planned for each tour.

Storyteller and author, Brian “Fox” Ellis, will be giving more than two dozen performances in various Illinois communities that explore the American Indian perspective on Illinois’ Bicentennial. Following the route of our Territorial Governor in his unsuccessful efforts at the forced removal of American Indians, Fox will tell both sides of the story, challenging the audience to rethink what they think they know about Illinois’ History.

Free Chicago walking tour of the Monadnock Building

uring your 30-minute-long architectural walking tour, a professional tour guide will share the larger-than-life story and structure of the Monadnock Building, one of the oldest skyscrapers of downtown Chicago. This tour is free and offered weekly on Fridays from November 2nd until December 8th. Reservations are required!
