World War I service flag

Description

Bronze memorial plaque given by the Rebecca Parke Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The plaque is mounted on the east side of the World War I memorial in front of Old Main on the Knox College campus. The large star and the number 660 represents the number of Knox College men who served in the armed forces during the war. The inverted triangle and the number 27 represents the number of men who were prisoners of war, and the cross and the number 8 represents those who served with the Red Cross.
