Letter from George A. Rogers to Dean W.E. Simonds

Soldier and member of Knox's class of 1921, George A. Rogers, writes to Dr. Simonds about his service at Kelley Field. In this letter, Rogers notes that, "Our duty has involved tasks of every description and no matter how disagreeable was the work I have never seen one of the twenty two men slack. I think that's remarkable." He also writes that "…I chose the course which I think will get me "over there" the quickest. And there I shall fight for the cause I love, hoping never to soil my sacred uniform." Rogers describes his duties with equanimity, stating that "I may say that the hard work and climate agrees with me," and signs off with the colorful closer, "From the land of horned sand toads, Yours, George A. Rogers."
