Infantry , and with this organization I spent the rest of my army life , only while on detatched service and was then a member of the company . After about seven months when most all the privates were transfered away from us and in a few days the remainder of the division (mostly Officers and Non-Commisioned Officers) moved to Camp Dix,N.J . on June 15,1918 arriving at the camp three days later . In a few days our companies were filled with men fron the east for us to train as these were the men we were totake overseas with us. After about three months training we left Camp Dix for New York where we embarked at Peir #60 on the LLanstephen Castle (an English Liner) Within just 14 days on the water we landed at Tilbury , England on Sept.9th and after 3 days in a rest camp near Winchester England we crossed the English channel to Cherburg ,France .
