Diary of Elmer C. Cardiff Left Camp Logan, May 8, 1918, arrived in Joliet Ill May 9, at 9.30 am, May 11, arrived at Chicago at 10.30 am, departed for Buffalo N. Y arrivining May 12, at 630 P.M. departed, and arrived at Camp Upton May 13, left Camp Upton May 22nd at 230 am left New York 4.05 P.M. May 22 and arrived in Brest France May 30, at 7 P.M. arrived at Napoleons Camp at 9. P.M, left Napoleons Camp June 5 arriving at Camp Uppie June 9, departing for Le Mesnie Reasine June 11, left this camp June 25, and arrived at Perricot, the same day by trucks. The first air raid June 26, and June 27, killed 2 men, and wounded 3, left Pericot august 20, at 8am, arrived at Aurrgny left here august 21, arrived at Parlainelle left here august 23 for Ameins passed the Cathedral, left Ameins august 24 arrived at Lignly , at 9 am, arrived at Salmagne aug 25 11.30 am. left here August 26 for Loisy arrived at Blarcourt Sept 6, at 5 P.M. left here Sept 7, for Germanville arrived here Sept 9, staying until Sept 25 at 2. am. then left for Longout Sept 26, left longout Sept 26, and stalled near Cummers, went to Bethencourt Sept 27, then back to Cummers, left Cummers Oct 9, for Brabant crossed the Meuse on a Pontuon bridge left Brabant Oct 15 for the hills, left near Bithencourt arrived Oct 15 near Cummiers left here Oct 17, to Nixwell left here Oct 18 to go to Loully Woods left there Oct 23 to Lillenbois left here Nov 4, at 6 P.M. arrived at the woods about 3 P.M. Nov 5, then went to Arllers Nov 7, for miles, came back at 11 P.M. stopped firing at 11.11.11 left the woods Nov 13 for Hannonville left here Dec 8, to Mars Le Lours to Mainville Dec 9, to Mercy Le Harete Dec 10 to Mannceullis Dec 11 to Schifflign Dec 12 at Syren Dec 13 at Ehnen Dec 15 and Saarberg Dec 17 to Dec 19 to Larochette Dec 30 till orders came to prepare for return to the States [Envelope: Handwritten note in upper-left corner] From Mary Curl DeWitt DeWitt Ills.
